This year's theme is Making Multicultural Services Part of Your Library Services, and will feature vendors who help libraries develop their world language collections and experts who will tell us how to recognize and best serve our immigrant communities.
Our keynote speaker will be Library Journal Book Review Editor Barbara Hoffert, who specializes in helping libraries select books for the quickly-growing non-English speaking population. Other topics covered will be: delivering customer service to multicultural populations, accessing Ocean County's searchable database of non-English programs, and using demographics to plan multicultural services.
As an added treat, the musical group, Rosewood and Rhythm will entertain during lunch. In anticipation of this event, the World Languages Committee invites those serving multicultural communities to join our listserv, where we can discuss issues and exchange ideas about this topic: worldlanguages@listserv.bccls.org
