Baker & Taylor Children and Teen Publisher Presentations

It is time again for the Baker & Taylor's Children And Teen Publisher Presentations for Fall 2008.  The Presentations are scheduled to take place on May 20th, May 21st, and May 22nd at Arbor Glen in Bridgewater, NJ.  Many of you have attended these presentations in the past and others will be able to take advantage of this unique opportunity for the first time.

Each day, the Presentations will consist of:

  • Publisher Title Presentations - 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • Author Speech - 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM
  • Luncheon - 12:30 PM - to 1:30 PM

The Presentation schedule is available on the Baker & Taylor website @ www.btol.com/publisherspresent

For your information, the following authors will be speaking during this year's presentations:

  • May 20th: Margie Palatini sponsored by HarperCollins
  • May 21st:  Leslie M.M. Blume sponsored by Random House
  • May 22nd: Laurie Keller sponsored by Macmillan (Holt)

Because of the increased attendance over the past several years, seating will be limited.   To guarantee your space, it is extremely important that you RSVP by May 5, 2008 to BONNIE SHAFER, at shaferb[at]btol.com.  Please be advised that any RSVP's after this date, cannot be guaranteed.  When making your reservation for the presentations, please indicate whether you will be staying for lunch.  All attendees that do not indicate luncheon plans, will be noted as not attending the luncheon 

Target Corporation grants

The Target Corporation is accepting applications for the Local Store Grants funding program. The Local Store Grants program provides funding that supports reading programs, the arts, and family violence prevention.

The Local Store Grants program is open to libraries, schools, nonprofits, and public agencies. The funding, grants ranging from $1,000 to $3,000, are awarded for programs that impact the arts, early childhood reading, or family violence prevention.

The early childhood reading grants, for example, support programs that encourage children to read together with their families.

FY09 Literacy Leadership Program Grants for Public Libraries

FY09 Literacy Leadership Program Grants for Public Libraries

The New Jersey State Library is pleased to announce the availability of the third and final year of the Literacy Leadership Program Grants for Public Libraries funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through their Library Services and Technology Act Grants to the States program. A total of $200,000 is available in $20,000 maximum grant awards. The NJ State Library's literacy grant program will be re-evaluated for the following year.

The grant deadline is May 23, 2008.
